TAKE THE CHALLENGE
Introducing an exciting and new event for Parkerville Children and Youth Care. A group of awesome volunteers have created the Trail Challenge for Parkerville Children and Youth Care. This event is a wonderful initiative that creates relationships, healthy habits and raises awareness of child abuse in Western Australia.
Parkerville Children and Youth Care is a 115 year old not for profit organisation that specialises in caring for children, young people and families who have experienced childhood abuse and trauma. With 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys affected by child abuse by 18 years old, we have a huge role to play within the community to raise i) awareness of the problem and ii) support for the services Parkerville Children and Youth Care provides. In 2017 we provided services to 12,614 children and young people across Western Australia www.parkerville.org.au .
As you know, research shows that nature activity is helpful with self regulation and enabling relationships. The Trail Challenge for Parkerville Children and Youth Care encompasses outdoor activity, health, self regulation and allows for relationship development to encourage engagement, wellbeing and helpful conversation.
Over the period between May 5 to August 5 2018, the Trail Challenge for Parkerville Children and Youth Care invites you to register as a group, school or individual to challenge yourself by choosing as many of the designated trails to walk in this time period. Utilise the fundraising resources to raise the most awareness for child abuse in WA and funds for Parkerville Children and Youth Care.
